PROJECTOR & SCREEN HIRE
ON TOUR EVENTS TALKS ''PROJECTORS & SCREENS'' AND SHARES SOME USEFUL INFORMATION
HIRE A TAILORED PROJECTOR & SCREEN PACKAGE FROM ON TOUR EVENTS
Projectors and screens seem to have been around since the dawn of time. While that’s not strictly true (we checked), they have been a go-to choice for so many event organisers for decades now. No matter how much technology moves on, the projector and screen combination is seemingly everlasting.
But that’s not without good reason. Their longevity as a partnership comes about from their numerous benefits. So let’s take a look at why you want to hire this combination of audio visual equipment for your event.
+WHY HIRE A PROJECTOR & SCREEN FOR YOUR EVENT?
Although other audio visual technologies have progressed exponentially over the last decade, the projector and screen combo isn’t as old-fashioned as people might have you believe. While screens are obviously relatively similar to how they looked 20-odd years ago, projection technology has also come on leaps and bounds.
Better still, not only are projectors and screens easy to set-up (connecting to a laptop or desktop is a matter of plugging in a cable), but they’re flexible too. Our screen stands allow you to easily adjust the height of the screen to accommodate seated or standing guests, and our projectors have interchangeable lenses which allow you to alter their throw distance.
What’s more, projectors are lightweight and highly portable compared to similar tech such as our LED video panels. Plus, they’re easy to set up and can be transported without hassle.
The projector and screen combo is particularly useful for events such as product launches. Using high-quality and eye-catching visuals, you can paint the product and the company in the best possible light. The displayed content can include anything from product stills, demonstration videos, infographics regarding the development process, and images from your catalogue or website.
But their technology is not limited to strictly professional events. Projectors and screens can add sentiment and emotion to events like wedding events, funerals, or even birthday parties. You can have a slideshow of precious photographs running throughout the event or display photos and videos during loved ones’ speeches.
In other words, there isn’t much these two can’t do!
+CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIRING A PROJECTOR & SCREEN
When hiring any type of event production equipment, you want to make the right decisions. Sometimes minor tweaks can have some of the most significant impacts on the end result. To help you make the right calls throughout the planning process, we’ve compiled a list of things you need to be thinking about concerning projector and screen hire.
+ASSESSING YOUR VENUE BEFORE THE EVENT
Unless hosting an event with a specific conference venue, it is usually worth paying a visit to your venue beforehand to make sure your proposed projector and screen hire options are going to work in your chosen space.
Make sure you find out whether your venue has any restrictions in place which would limit where you could set up a projector and screen. Another thing to keep in mind is that projectors (specifically their bulbs) can get extremely hot while running, which causes them to shut down entirely when the maximum temperature is reached. Thus, you need to ensure that the room is well ventilated.
After double-checking that you can safely set up a projector and screen in your venue, you need to consider its placement. Projectors have different throw distances, which is the distance needed between the projector and the screen.
Most projector models come with a zoom lens for a bit of flexibility, and our larger projectors actually come with interchangeable lenses to allow for more extensive adjustments. However, there’s only so much room to manoeuvre, so bear that in mind.
+CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROJECTOR
Choosing the correct projector setup comes down to two things – brightness and resolution.
Brightness is the most significant factor when determining the quality of a projector. Budget projectors with 2,500 lumens may seem tempting because of their lower price, but the sacrifice you have to make in output quality just isn’t worth it.
You want to push for as many lumens as your budget will allow and not settle for anything lower than 5,000 lumens.
Many projectors can project in Full HD 1080p. Having a projector that can handle high resolutions helps elevate your event, make it seem more professional, and do justice to your content.
Another issue to note is your preferred aspect ratio. HD content is 16:9, while lower resolution footage requires a 4:3 ratio. Projectors can do both, but you want to make sure you match your content source aspect ratio with whatever your projector is set to. Otherwise, you end up with those unsightly black bars along the top and bottom or sides of the projection.
+CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE PROJECTOR SCREEN
Nothing would be more frustrating for a guest than being unable to see your presentation, video, or other chosen media formats. That's why getting the screen size to fit both the event and the venue is crucial. The screen size depends on both the size of the room and the layout of the audience. We’ve come to trust our handy one-sixth rule of thumb to give you a reliable estimate of what size you can get.
Measure the distance between where the screen will be and where the audience member furthest from the screen will sit (or stand). Your screen height should be around one-sixth of that number! For example, if the distance between the furthest audience member and the screen is 30m, the screen should be roughly 5m tall.
+HIRE THE ADDITIONAL EVENT EQUIPMENT FROM ON TOUR EVENTS
Once you’ve decided on a screen size and found the perfect place for the projector to be positioned, start looking at the other visual aspects of your event. Is your set design lacking that extra sparkle? Does your venue have adequate event lighting? Could you make use of digital signage to elevate your product launch?
Next, make sure the sound equipment matches that standard. Our speakers, microphones, and mixing desks are exclusively top of the range brands such as Shure and will provide crystal clear audio throughout your event.
We also provide live streaming equipment if you are hosting a fully-virtual or a hybrid event, and we’ll ensure any other equipment is compatible with streaming technology.
We aren’t joking when we say we are a literal one-stop-shop for all your event production needs!
